What a day, what a day, what a wonderful day… Alarm clock was set at 5 AM, that we missed, of course, since we were completely knackered from the shit day before and since I forced Griet to sleep with earplugs (an addiction of mine) because the hostel we were staying at apparently had no walls.
So we woke up at 7AM, that meant: no sunset at Machu Picchu. Well, apparently there wasn’t any since it was raining as if the land hadn’t had any water in months. We didn’t miss anything, put it that way (that’s what we tell our selves that is… hihi). We took the bus up to Macho Machu Picchu at 8 AM, arriving there in the thick mist twenty minutes later. Damned… No Machu Picchu view for us… Still, the dramatic clouds were more than breath taking, what a view! What a scenery! Stunned.
On top of that the sun started to burn away the thick mist and little by little Machu Picchu started to show itself from its best side. Amazing. Simply amazing. I have to say, it was bloody worth the awful crap day we had yesterday! We could only stroll around for an hour or two since we had to catch our train back to the Sacret Valley around 1PM. We could have stayed there the entire day if we had the time, but, to be honest, we were more than satisfied.
We headed back to the, ahum, less attractive town of Machu Picchu for, yes, another fruit juice. Macho Machu Picchu is a must see. Point. But we were more than ready to head back to our beloved little town, were we lost our heart, namely: Pisac. We travelled by local bus for another 2 hours, enjoying the beautiful scenery and enjoying the warmth of the locals. We were practising our Spanish with the cutest 8 year old Peruvian girl ever. While we were learning Spanish, she was practising her reading skills. Beautiful moment.
We were supposed to take the night bus to Puno tonight but we were craving a shower and most of all, we were craving that delicious vegetarian tomato pasta even more that we had the day before yesterday at the Pisac Inn… What do you think Griet? Shall we stay one more night in our new home town and go out for a nice glass of wine and that more than amazing pasta dish? YES! Let’s do it! And so we did! A glass of sangria for griet, a glass of local white wine for LN and 2 dishes (almost 3, it was close) of that culinary orgasm of a pasta dish. One word: satisfaction! Well make it two: happiness!
So here we are, updating our blog at the Pisac Inn, with a smile from Peru to Belgium on our faces. Tomorrow morning we will head to Puno by bus. It will take us approx. 8 hours. It will be our last stop before we head back to Lima to get our flight to Ayacucho, the ultimate destination of our trip. There the real magic will happen: meeting the teenage mothers that knit and crochet for LN|Andes, teaching them how to make the perfect beanies, taking the most beautiful portraits of them, heading towards the local Alpaca farms, shaving the alpaca beauties, etc etc … It will be an amazing experience! Can’t wait!
Stay tuned loves,
LN

Awesome photography. This place you captured are very beautiful. i like the rail line. there is a rail line in front of my house also. thanks for sharing this nice picture…
I’m so happy that the clouds cleared for you at Machu Picchu and you were able to enjoy it. Good luck in Puno!
We’re a group of volunteers and starting a new scheme in our community. Your site provided us with valuable information to work on. You have done an impressive job and our entire community will be thankful to you.
Hey there, You’ve performed an excellent job. I’ll definitely digg it and in my view suggest to my friends. I’m sure they’ll be benefited from this website.
Ellenita! Hi!!!
Wow!!! It seems you’ve fallen for Pisac!!! Really a lovely small town… and how regretful I am of not staying there to dinner!!! jajajja After reading your delightful comments… I just want to run back there and have a beautiful meal enjoying the paradisiac atmosphere!
I just arrived home after a looonnnnggg flight and back to my “lovely” routine! But I’m so intriged of what happened in your journey! The thought of going to Ayacucho to shear alpacas hit me really hard when I was in Aguas Calientes!! It must be a great life experience and totally off the touristic track!
I can’t agree with you more… Machupichu town… really really disappointing. I actually walked the way out of there beside the rail tracks towards Colcamayo hot springs! jajjaja which I must say… one of the best spots I found in Peru.
Love your dream, love your work! and so curious to know what happened next!!
Besos,
Trembling legs.
(Please send my greets to Griet!! You are so so right! AMAZING PICS!!!! Best photographer ever!! I wish she were in all my trips!! 😀 )
