Running a fair fashion business is hard work and especially when a pandemic announces itself. Due to COVID19, our FW20 collection has had a bit of a production delay. That’s why this year we won’t receive the collection all at once, but rather in three shipments.
Three years ago we started our preorder system to give you, our client, the chance to get your hands on your favourite piece of the season. But why do we let you preorder and not wait until the collection hits the store?
There are two main reasons. The first one is that we never order a big stock in the first place. Everything is made by hand, so it takes a lot of time for a collection to be ready. Slow fashion, literally. Because of this limited stock, our clients sometimes miss out on a piece they’ve had their eye on and if they waited too long to purchase it, it’s gone.
This brings us to the second reason: if there’s one piece that’s really popular during the preorder period and we have the feeling that it would keep on selling during the season to come, we still have the time to order an extra amount of this item. As we said: production takes a long time! So the earlier we know which pieces make our customers happy, the earlier we can place a reorder with our supplier.
As you can see, it all has to do with thinking ahead. Fast fashion companies have the luxury that they can make thousands of pieces of a particular item at a low cost and at a super-fast rate. And if they have leftover stock? Pff, just throw it away, it didn’t cost anything to produce anyway! As we have a low waste policy, we don’t stand by this philosophy at all. We want to respect the hard work that goes into every piece and make sure every one of our items finds its way to a happy customer.
So if you preorder now, you can be 100% certain you get your knit. But what if it doesn’t fit, you ask? Well, no problem! You can easily return it and ask for a refund. Support a small business, shop local. Check out the preorders here.
